Adrienne’s Draguation RECAP

Adrienne’s Draguation was a huge success! I’m so grateful for the wonderful show that we put on. The cast, crew, volunteers, and staff were PHENOMENAL! It was truly a full circle moment to have a self-produced show take place in the theatre that I grew up in. We’ve never had a drag show in Fairfield so there was a lot of weight on this show. However, I had so much fun and the room was filled with an enormous amount of love. It was beyond my wildest dreams.

I dedicated the show to my parents and my family. From buying my Bratz dolls as a kid to watching RuPaul’s Drag Race with me, my mom has always supported my vision. Although my father passed away, I know he is in Heaven and is proud of his baby boy doing big things. It was also a full circle moment because my titi Edna (may she rest in Heaven) used to take me to the same theatre as a kid when it had an art gallery in the lobby. This was way before I even knew what theatre was!

The show was an amazing labor of love that didn’t feel like work at all. It was a celebratory and historic event from the start. I made sure to get the entire community and the local press involved. I’m grateful for The Reporter, The Daily Republic and Times Herald for covering the event. There were so many companies and business owners who supported and sponsored us from the beginning. I hit the ground running to connect with as many people as I could and it paid off.

I’m so glad that we were able to give back to programs that mean a lot to me. We raised funds, supplies, costumes, food, and hygiene products for American Canyon High School Theatre Arts and Missouri Street Youth Theatre. It was one thing to put on the first drag show but it was another thing to do it with intent and purpose. I think it’s very necessary to do things and give back as much as possible. I pray that this inspires the next generation to produce their own shows, thrive, and give back too.

Thank you to my girls, Amoura Teese, Unieke, C-Yah Envy, Serpentina, Amelia Need, Rose Rowzay, Lotus Party, Mya Lusion, Rubix Q. Arcana, Hera Wynn and Iris Omega for sharing your gifts with our community. Fairfield loves you and I love you. You held it down like I knew you would and we put on an amazing show.
